Recent domain buys in the .trade extension

I quite like domains with intent, especially when I can grab single dictionary words in them. The .trade extension is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) launched in 2014 for businesses and individuals involved in the exchange of goods, services, currencies, or information. So it’s been around for a while now and has had increasing value in 2024/25, so I decided to try and buy some names for my portfolio.

Renewals are cheap so another tick for me because it means I can hold the names if I have to. Availability was still quite good and what I was looking for were names with both high number of extensions registered and a high number of active extensions. I bought my names at Spaceship, a registrar making waves in the domain community of late.

I have the following single dictionary word names in the .trade extension in my portfolio, all well in excess of 100 extensions registered:

Notable .trade sales as reported by Namebio that show the market has appetite to invest in this extension, with values increasing in 2025 (shown in $USD):

  • Hawk.trade $9888
  • Maestro.trade $9499
  • Hype.trade $8999
  • Profit.trade $6988

Alternative extensions are on the rise in value. Com will always be king, however as the sales data shows, more and more alternative extensions are being bought as a more affordable alternative to a .com, especially if the .com is off market. As long as you buy the right names, I think there is definitely a place for names like these in your portfolio if you can get them, especially if the number of other extensions in use is high. I also recently wrote about my .st domain extension buys, another extension I quite like.
