There are so many interesting domain name related posts on X. I bookmark them and often forget to go back so this is my way of collecting my favourite posts and sharing them weekly. I added the weekly to the title to force myself to write regularly, something I really enjoy and want to do more of now that I have my own dedicated space.
An epic rant from the world’s leading domain name broker on Domain Sherpa, Andrew Rosener. The domain aftermarket is estimated to be in the billions annually according to Andrew with most of the market being .com domains. The market is still growing year on year so there is no bad time to get into domain names.
The state of the domain market
Some interesting numbers, again showing the scale of things as well as the continuing growth. The rapid adoption of ngTLDs (new generic top-level domains) as highlighted by the +13.5% YoY growth, indicates a shift in how domains are perceived, not just as web addresses but as part of brand identity or digital handles. The dominance of .com is clear but it’s just one way you can choose to invest in domains in 2025.
A record domain sale for the .xyz extension
The highest ever reported .xyz sale happened recently on the Atom marketplace. Super .xyz sold for $287,607! This sale would have surprised many (including me). I own some .xyz names so it’s nice to see that investors are willing to buy names in this extension.
Analysing a 200k domain portfolio
This post caught my eye. Irfan Habib analysed the domain portfolio owned by veteran domain investor Mike Mann. A fascinating look at a large domain portfolio and the types of names Mike focusses on. There is a lot of great info in the thread below.
